This is My Body

A body has been found

And that’s a mercy

A missing person leaves an aching heart

Some one disappears

Is never found

An empty chair

A room a place apart

There’s comfort to be found

Where there’s a grave

A place to go and grieve a shrine to make

To pour out love

For one so sorely missed

And then to take up life all for your sake

My great grandparents gave their sons to war

One came home

Two are buried far

In fateful France and near Jerusalem

Family grieved

But could not mother them

My father saw the worst that war can do

Gave him nightmares

Words were very few

But he knew that war was foolish

A right mug’s game

Here are his words

To tell the world the same
