I saw a tear appear
At the corner of her eye
Wiped away she apologised
We are not meant to cry
Not in public anyway
Meant to be composed
But we are full of feeling
Sometimes it just shows
I remember on Mulranny strand
Nine months after Maggie died
My brother held my heaving self
I cried I wept I cried
Those feelings locked inside of me
Needed that release
And standing on that Clew Bay shore
That flood gave me some peace
Jesus at Jerusalem
Shed tears for all within
They could not see his loveliness
They only heard the din
The shouts and screams of every day
Distract the noisy crowd
Our silent tears are eloquent
Far more than words out loud
