The Path

The millions of years
That have passed
The millions of stars in the sky
The light years’ depth of the universe
Tell me then – what am I?

Apparently
Image of God
The Good Book
Would have me believe
But the way we behave
Would persuade me
Someone is out to deceive

But no
The human’s a wonder
Intelligence beauty and grace
Flawed and inclined to blunder
And granted sometimes a disgrace

The truth of our life
Lies in goodness
In kindness and love of the heart
Look at a child
And you see it
Loveliness there at the start

The problem of evil
We study
The wherefores of how we go wrong
History psychology sociology
And blame – where does it belong

A path
Proposed for my learning
Be a disciple today
Sit in the silence and listen
Learn
Simply learn how to pray

This is the path
The Lord teaches
Take it and see where you go
To the land of true understanding
To a peace
The world does not know
