Corpus Christi
8th of June 1944
And the boys of Bedford Virginia
Fell two days before
Falling out of landing craft
Approaching Omaha
They walked into the jaws of hell
They fell to rise no more
The Lord whose feast
We celebrate
Body and Blood of Christ
Was torn apart
At Calvary
That was the fateful price
Carrying the sin of all the world
Faithful to the end
And the boys of Bedford Virginia
Fell likewise in the sand
The Mass gives us a risen Lord
In broken body form
In blood spilt out to save us all
A new world to inform
Shared among our broken selves
This mystery unites
And asks us live
True humble lives and
To holy love invites
