Mark 12:1-12
Don’t point the finger
It’s rude
It’s aggressive
And you won’t be understood
So Jesus tells a story
Won’t cover you in glory
But at least you’ll know the truth
And that is good
Elders and chief priests
Out to get him
Kill him if they must
It’s nearly certain
But the story of the vineyard
And its murderous attendants
Is a story that has run
We know the sentence
Rulers often kill opponents
It happens every day
It’s happening now
They can’t afford opposition
So they label it sedition
Their victims seem
To disappear somehow
Jesus is the first
Of many brethren
Who stand for justice
Stand for truth and die
That’s why we tell the story
To keep the truth among us
If not the shout goes up
Now crucify!
