Power

Jesus is in Jerusalem
He’s been throwing chairs around
The local politicians want to know
On whose authority you do these things
Who gave you permission?
Jesus doesn’t answer them at all

They are not there to question him
But rather to dismiss
To get the blighter off their chosen patch
But Jesus happy to engage
Asks a question to enrage
The chief priests cannot answer – there’s a catch

If we say that John was good
Why then didn’t we follow?
If we say he was a fraud
The people then will bellow

It’s very clear from this debate
The political concern
The elders only congregate
To battle not to learn
They have the power
It’s theirs to keep
The only thing that mattered
And any upstart from the sticks
Shall be reduced and shattered

The politics of yesterday
Is still the UK norm
The Tories hold the power
To have and hold
A different way of doing things
Consensus politics with wings
Can change our country
A better story told

Caroline Lucas in the Guardian
Seeks proportional representation
A culture of working together
An end to the old and endless fighting
Labour Tory hate inciting
Come outside and see
There’s better weather

UK politics needs changing
USA needs rearranging
People fight for party not for truth
Cross the old entrenched divide
Avoid society suicide
Share the power
Rejuvenate our youth
