Matthew 28:16-20

It was a three-line whip in the old days
A demanding church
Things you had to do
Mass on Sunday
Miss and mortal sin
Regular confession
Get them in
Fish on Friday
That’s okay the chippy
Give up for Lent
Get your ashes too
Walk in processions
When it’s Whitsun
Let the others know
We’re the crew

There are demands in life
There’s no denying
Good must be done
A basic rule
Evil we avoid
Same token
Taught at home
Taught when went to school

Old ways like old clothes
Time comes for shedding
New days need new ways
Strange but true
We are still disciples
Still the gospel learning
I am with you always
Old and new
