Nodding With Noah

I have an easy chair
A recliner
I go to sleep there
Every afternoon
My grandson Noah
Also puts his head down
Mind you he’s two
That’s very much in tune

I guess that means
I’m now in second childhood
Sleeping as my grandson sleeps
Round noon
As long as I keep going
That’s the main thing
I want to be around
To see him bloom

Margaret got her wish
Concerning Michael
To see him grow
And him become a man
Twenty he was
When death it came a-calling
The memory she leaves
I can’t begin…

Jesus on the cross
He gave his mother
To his disciple John
The care to hold
Entrust your heart to the heart
Of another
That way
It never will grow cold
