Life’s Traces

Foundlings find their mothers now
Thanks to DNA
Find their fathers too
Such is our modern way
And lives forever separated
By life’s tragedies
Can heal again
New born and back to stay

Sorrow stress and circumstance
Attitudes of the times
Brought down days of misery to mums
Now research and chemistry
Opens all closed doors
There are always traces
We can do the sums

I was lost for seven years
Away from my dear son
Caught between the priesthood and my soul
Wanting always with be with them
Wanting peace of mind
Uncertain still and vowed to another role

The vows I made so innocent
Of life and its concerns
Are now a matter deemed null and void
My life since then is happiness
Two grandsons now my latest bliss
My son so close and I am overjoyed
