Body language gives the game away
Disciples on the road – Jerusalem
Not too keen on this road
Better back at home
Better home than even Bethlehem
The Lord he tries to tell them
Some trouble to expect
But nothing’s going in – don’t want to know
They talk about special privileges
Precedence special roles
Enough to cause a rumpus come to blows
Okay let’s talk positions
Says Jesus as they go
There’s no up front or middle or behind
The greatest is the one who serves
The first one is the last
Make yourself a servant and be kind
We’re slow to listen when the news is bad
Slow to take on board what we must do
Like Hitler time we didn’t hear the voice
Or read the signs until we had no choice
And Covid time we were slow to cotton on
Until its here we don’t see what is wrong
So many lost their lives our lazy greedy eyes
Were looking other ways another song
Our nature I’m afraid but no excuse
Sit up in class no need to be obtuse
Read the weather every single day
And dress as Billy Connnolly might say

+ No such thing as bad weather, Billy says. Just the wrong clothes.
