Getting Younger

Getting Younger

A lass I know
She said of me
He’s like an old man
– I was 73 –
It shocked me
To hear the words she said
I know a man just his age
Totally different
Does engage
Your dad seems well
Well he just seems dead

I limped along
That is true
Didn’t really know
What to do
Be the best I can
But it’s not great
Contented kind of
Not creative
Lost my way it seems
Gone native
Not really going
Anywhere at all

That’s all changed
I’ve become expressive
Words are flowing
Daily missive
Words my metier
My raison D
Every person needs
A purpose
Interest hobby
Be discursive
That’s what happened
That ‘s what changed in me

My cousin Kathleen’s
Hubby John
Kept an allotment
Down in Leigh
Went down there
Every day to be
Helped him get over
Losing Kathleen
Won some prizes
Real green-fingered
Smashing chap
Lately died is he

Every one
Has talent somewhere
Don’t give up
Don’t just stare
Find the source
Of inspiration
Let the Spirit
Bring new creation
The old man 73
Is young
And 74
