Counsel

When I went to counselling
Some three years ago
The session was so precious to me
A cosy room a counsellor
Attentive and warm
That place that time
Just where I had to be

I wanted the hour
To go on and on
I felt so warm engaged
Where I should be
But an hour is the limit
And that is the remit
Anything more
Would waste
Effectivity

I learned in the intervening days
How the session
Would replay in my mind
Things I said
Things said to me
Would echo long
Inviting me
To walk the road
To see what I might find

The Spirit is at work in us each day
Prompting us
And guiding what we say
His name the Advocate
The Counsellor
We need such counsel
Why would you delay?
