I have never slept so sound
In all my life
Always a good sleeper
This is deep
Off to bed at ten
Sleep on through till six
Never hear a thing
Not a peep
It feels just like a minute
When I wake
Since days’ work done
I clamber into bed
Fall straight fast asleep
Hours of darkness pass
Wake as gentle light
Disturbs my head
It’s a sign I think
My spirit is at peace
After times of trouble
Being lost alone
The night time is my friend
My spirit to attend
Lay my head
Rest my weary bone
We travel on in darkness
Through the night
Like a sleeper train
London Stirling bound
Moving all the time
Yet motionless asleep
I awake at morning
Stirling not a sound
I love the morning stillness
In the air
I love my home
I do not have a care
The days of struggle
I now leave behind
Today will be my task
Tomorrow kind
