Sheila’s Cottage, Rosmoney

Karl is home from hospital
He is weak, yes, but he’s home
And home for Karl a cottage by the sea
Long white house and garden
A road beside the shore
An artist’s house shelters in the lee

Stone flagged floors solid walls
Cosy warm inside
A joy to visit every time we call
Coffee and cake ceremony
Dusseldorf by the sea
Open door welcome in the hall

I remember days in Dusseldorf
Loved the German way
Loved the food the pubs the woodland walk
Loved the tram when Altstadt bound
Loved the flowing Rhine
Shame I didn’t have the German talk

Now we’re in the end of days
Now is autumn time
Season for the harvest of our lives
If life has taught us anything
It has taught us this for sure
Live each today as each today arrives
