Now a place the Romans
Once called Gaul
Spoke to Him on Video
T’other day
He arranged it
Nice to say hello
He mentioned the Grand Prix
Taking place today
Set me off a-thinking
Long ago
We used to play
At racing cars in his place
Racing dinky toys round t’ settee
Fangio and Hawthorn
Stirling Moss an all
David always won
It had to be!
Now look where he’s gone
And settled down
The real thing
Far from Tyldesley town
But Henry Street
Was buzzing
When Fangio was driving
His mother said
Now David settle down
When t’ race was over
Out to have some tea
Blue Riband the biscuit then
Of choice
The dinky toys are put away
The big cars race around today
And me and David
Still shout with one voice
