All The Books In The World

John 21:20-25

Easter season drawing to a close
Paul arrives in Rome his journey done
John lays down his pen in repose
The gospel story now will run and run

Looking back on days lived with the Lord
John selects the things he wants to say
To describe a man in so many words
Leaves out so much – maybe some other day

So many books, he says, would need be written
To tell of Jesus everything to say
And even then the great desire to listen
You couldn’t write enough – not any way

But volume is not a factor here
The gospel writings hold enough within
They bear the spirit of the living Lord
Take up the text take up and breathe it in
