Carraful dominates the skyline
Tuiscean is a gently rolling hill
Glencullen for most people a by line
For me childhood memory and thrill
The river flows shallow deep in places
Trout brown bog brown water winding free
Bog as black as coal the river faces
Pulwinty bends the water back to me
Slievemore Achill lords the southern skyline
A world beyond my kenning in those days
Carrowmore across the lake my eyeline
Cottages glinting in a sunny haze
Heifer’s Gap – now there’s a name to play with
Mountain pass beyond the little school
Muinguinaun the village of my forebears
Never been there never ran the rule
Bellanaboy a musical name if ever
Young couple coming home drowned one time
The loveliness of nature can deceive us
Sorrow comes to meet us such a crime
Big Turn on the road heralds traffic
Locals and strangers coming by
Holy spot holiday first sighting
Final spot when we say goodbye
Glen – destination of my journey
Memory of sunny days and youth
Picture of contentment in my musing
Land of loving people land of truth
