A Poet

A Poet

It’s good to read
And if you’re in a book
Like being in bed
You snuggle up
Don’t leave
A novel or a thriller
A classic if you will
Come the end
Come the time to grieve

But some folk find it hard
To even start
A page of print
Gives them
A change of heart
So why not try a poem
It’s easier to get going
And fewer words to read
And there’s the art

In a world of megabytes
And kilobytes
And gigabytes
A poem is a bite size
Thing to read
The shortness of a line
Helps concentration fine
Give it a try
And just see where it leads

Today I went on
Poetry Foundation
And found a poem
Never read before
‘The Trees Are Down’ its name
Charlotte Mew, her claim
Writing out of pain
I’ll read her more
