Do you know the Jig
In Tyldesley?
It’s a set of streets
That tumble down the brew
Miss Rush lived her days
In one of them
She was my teacher
When I came from Infant Two
Infant Three her class
And all before her
Knew how to best behave
And make no din
She could look stern
And shouted
If she needed to
But we knew misbehaving was a sin
I came back at 23
To see my parish
A priest I was
And doing all my rounds
Miss Rush she was expecting
That I’d visit
I knocked upon her door
On Tyldesley ground
You took your time
In coming
Was the welcome
I felt right back a child in Infant Three
I bet she talks like this to everybody
All the world is 7
And five foot three
