On our way to Knock
A bus from Bangor
Excursion for the day
Stopped at Ballymunnelly
Mass first to attend
Sunday obligation
In those days
Pat was only two years old
But learning very fast
Bells she knew
When Johnny Orsi came
Selling lots of ice cream
Cones and wafers all
And 99s for those who cared to buy
Hushed for consecration
People bowed their heads
Not a sound was heard
No solemn tread
Then the altar boy rang bell
And Pat perked up her head
‘Ice cream Daddy!
Ice cream Daddy!’
