My Patchwork Cap

I have a patchwork cap
Greens and browns and blues
Natty little number on my head
Tricia chose it for me
One day out in town
Westport town
Massachusetts USA

Made by Foxford Woollen Mills
A place I went to see
That day of rain with Maggie
Misery
That famous nun developed it
Employment for the town
And a Foxford cap
Is now a friend to me

Reminds me of my granddad
Old Mick Foy as was
Always wore a cap I seem to mind
A miner and a music man
A fiddle on his knee
A working man until him nearly blind

I wear the cap most every day
Keeps me nice and warm
Old Mick Foy is going into town
Cap at jaunty angle
Waiting for a bus
The folk admire my fancy woollen crown
