Slinaunrua

I see today that Granddad’s house

In Slinaun has been sold

90 thousand Euros bought it

A house both new and old

The old place is transformed these days

But the old stones are in view

Souvenirs of days gone by

When the Fahys lived there new

In my dreams I went back there

To write my memories

But truth is you can’t go back

There is nothing there to see

Nothing of the life that was

Those people lived their day

Now I’m here and should live mine

And tomorrow is the way

You can’t step in the same stream twice

The river flows ahead

Looking back is fine I know

But here I make my bed

Life flows on it always will

And carries us in the stream

To an ocean broad and deep and true

Greater than any dream

Eternity awaits us then

And life without an end

And while I’m here I journey on

Each day a pleasant friend
