You’re a very good daddy
I told him
My son last night to his face
I saw how his sons interacted
Playing all over the place
He’s there night and day
At their caring
He talks to them laughs with them
Plays
He carries them about when not sleeping
Each day they live under his gaze
He lived as a child
Amongst women
His mum and his aunt and the girls
His father figure was missing
And now I am writing these words
An ill wind it is says the wisdom
That doesn’t do someone some good
And the lack of a dad may inspire him
To be the dad that he should
I am the dad that was missing
But I know the score on milk spilt
So I’ll be the dad and the granddad
And disperse that faint feeling of guilt
